Article Celebrate Halloween Around Your Backyard Swimming Pool By Probuilt Staff October 14, 2022
Halloween is such a spooktacular time of the year. It involves some of our favorites: pumpkins, skeletons, witches, black cats, jack-o-lanterns, lots of candy, fun costumes, and even backyard swimming pools. (Wait, what? Did we just say swimming pools? On Halloween?) Yes! Celebrating this long-enjoyed holiday can be done around your backyard swimming pool for a different twist on a fun-filled time of year.
We collected seven fun and crazy ideas for you to incorporate for an exciting Halloween party around your backyard swimming pool. Get out your guest list and send out the invitations. You are going to be the hit of the holiday when you throw the best boo bash in town. Whether you want to showcase an eerie, ghostly, mysterious, chilling, or just a trick-or-treating good time, we bet you can take a few of these ideas and call them your own.
1. Put some skeletons in the pool. Nothing screams Halloween like a few skeletons lounging around in inner tubes in the pool. Use dry ice to create a smokey effect around the pool and also put a few jack-o-lanterns around the edge of the pool for added drama.

2. Get some pumpkins and put them in the pool. Pumpkins actually do float in the water. (And if you doubt us, fill up your kitchen sink with water and put one in. We’ll wait.) You can create your favorite carved pumpkins and let them float in the water. If you don’t want to use real pumpkins, gather up some plastic ones and use them for the same effect in the swimming pool. For added fun, have your guests carve their own pumpkins, put them in the swimming pool, and pick one as the grand prize winner.

3. Decorate with poolside glowing pumpkins. While not scary, these decorations sure are fun. Just place some of these around the pool and let the light from each one add a special ambiance to the event.
4. Get a coffin bar pool float. This is a must-have for your Halloween pool party. However, don’t just toss it in the water. Fill it with food and chilled drinks from which your guests can partake throughout the party.

5. Set up a fog machine. This is a great way to create a spooky mood around the edge of the pool.
6. Put together a spooktacular playlist of your favorite Halloween songs. Set the mood for the party and get your guests up and dancing with some ghoulishly good songs.
7. Have a Halloween costume contest. Offer prizes for the scariest, funniest, spookiest, and most creative costumes.
As with any celebration around the pool, please keep safety at top of mind. Make sure your pool is well lit, and if some of your guests are going to swim (swimming pool heater, anyone?), take all precautions to ensure it is safe to do so.
